The peace and tranquility of the nearly forgotten pearl of Bobovisca on the island of Brac will come as a great relief after having endured the crowds and travel hassles of Split harbor. However, prior to arriving in Bobovisca you may wish to weigh anchor for a pre-supper swim in the Bay of Stipanska, halfway between Brac's northernmost point of Gomilica and your first destination.
Bobovisca is only some ten miles from Split. The harbor is sheltered from all winds except for summer neveras coming from the west and maestral-driven high seas. It forks into two pockets of which the northeastern one is calmer. There is an underwater wall, the remains of an old fish farm, which prevents you from being able to reach its end. The eastern and narrower pocket is rimmed mostly with old houses, including the stunningly beautiful summer retreat of the Gligo family. Local boats are moored under the houses lined along the seafront, so the only available spot to be found is likely at the near end of the seafront ahead of the north bank. At the bottom of the small harbor is the monument to the writer Vladimir Nazor. The upper part of the town is located further up on the hill slopes. The tiny hamlet of Lozisca is nestled on the neighboring hill and is recognizable by its lovely bell tower.
