Istria is the largest peninsula on the Adriatic coast. It is doted with many small towns that are rich in cultural, architectural and historical heritage. The largest town of Istria is Pula near Istria's southernmost point; other important towns include Porec, Rovinj, Motovun, Buzet, Pazin and Zminj. Each town possesses a variety of unique characteristics. Zminj is famous for its traditional Istrian foods. Buje is the center of viniculture. Porec is rich in historical monuments. Rovinj, built on a small island that was later connected to the mainland, has a special seaside charm. All of Istria's towns are characterized by a special bond between sea and land cultures.
