Whether you're the "sandy beach and turquoise sea" type or you're more into steep cliffs and deep blue sea, we can guarantee you'll be more than satisfied visiting Croatia's diverse coastline. Let's take a look at 10 breathtaking beaches in Croatia, going from the north to the south of the coast:

 

KANDALORA BEACH, FRKANJ PENINSULA, RAB ISLAND

Frkanj is a part of Rab island and Kandalora is a beach divided into three pebbled and private coves easily reachable if you're sailing in. Turquoise and blue sea, white cliffs and pebbles, not a lot of people and wonderful scenery are a great recipe for charging your batteries.

SVETI IVAN BEACH, LUBENICE, CRES ISLAND

"Sveti Ivan" (eng. St. John), the most famous beach on Cres island, is located at the foot of the picturesque village of Lubenice. The beach is a very popular spot for yachts at sea. In the absence of a boat, you’ll have to walk around 45 minutes to get from the stone village to the sheltered beach. Make sure to follow red arrows and you’ll reach the snow-white pebble and crystal-clear water.

SAKARUN BEACH, DUGI OTOK ISLAND

Saharun is located on Dugi otok and surrounded by wonderful nature. It’s a beautiful white sand and pebble beach almost a kilometre long so it never gets overcrowded. During the day it’s a favourite spot for families and the elderly, and during the night for younger crowd. Its recognizable feature is a tall lighthouse.

SLANICA BEACH, MURTER ISLAND

The most popular beach on Murter island is both sandy and rocky, both active and peaceful. Ones in search of active vacation can play tennis, volleyball, jet-ski… Others can just sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenery. Note: This beach is children friendly – the water is not too deep so kids can run around and play in the sand.

PUNTA RATA BEACH, BRELA

The small town of Brela, 14 km north of Makarska, is a true jewel! Some say this area is the nicest in Croatia. Punta Rata is a resort beach with indescribable picturesque beauty. It is surrounded by groves of olive and fig trees so there is some shade, which is quite important. All you nature lovers – this is the place to be.

ZLATNI RAT BEACH, BRAČ ISLAND

The “Golden Cape” or "Zlatni rat" as we call it, is one of the most beautiful natural attractions of the Adriatic. This pebble filled peninsula, surrounded by clear shallow sea, is a hot destination despite the crowds. Sights of the shore are simply stunning: Roman ruins peeking out of pine trees and the highest peak in the Adriatic islands - Vidova Gora, leave everyone breathless.

PALMIŽANA BEACH, HVAR ISLAND

Palmižana beach is located on the Klement island, which belongs to Pakleni islands, a group of islands and cliffs in front of the town of Hvar. The beach is located in a beautiful bay, at the back of which there is a pine tree forest which will offer the much needed shade during hot summer days. The beach is covered with pebbles and has rocky parts as well, but the sea entrance is sandy. A part of this beach is a nudist beach.

STINIVA BAY, VIS ISLAND

Stiniva bay is closed in by two high rocky cliffs which are just four metres away from each other at their closest point. There’s a wonderful pebble beach between them. Surrounded by high cliffs on all sides, Stiniva always in the shade, at least from one side. From the land side it can be reached by a steep and very demanding goat's path.

VELA PRŽINA BEACH, KORČULA ISLAND

It is located in Lumbarda, a village just 6 km outside the town of Korčula, on the southern side of the island. This is a very popular sandy beach, filled with tourists and locals. It gets very crowded in the summer so if you like sandy beaches you'll have to hurry up to take a good spot. It faces the open sea, captured within a large bay.

PLAT BEACH, DUBROVNIK

Plat beach is located near Dubrovnik in an area called "Župa Dubrovačka" (eng. Dubrovnik parish). It is hidden behind stones and provides total privacy, making it an oasis of peace and quiet. The beach has very little shade though, so a parasol to provide some shade, refreshments in the nearby café and swimming often are “musts”.
